Circles was written in one afternoon late last year during recording sessions for a (separate) upcoming EP and explores ideas sparked by motherhood, the pandemic and larger social and political changes. Bethany created the track at her home studio in Oxford.

Two hundred years we’ll span
Just a pinprick on the hand
Two hundred years my clan
Blood to blood

One hundred - you were first
Now one hundred - to emerge
Our reflections converge
In the flood

We are circles
Held in circles
We are circles
Stretching time

You had your war, you had your peace
Your revolutions in the street
Do we ever find all we seek?
Do we ever?

We are circles
Held in circles
We are circles
Stretching time

Bright young things
Looming shadows
Rise of the right wing
Making battles
Lack of humanity
Circles and parallel lines

Too hot outside
My love vilified
Broken heart in pieces, analyse
How it happened
Find the pattern
Circles and parallel lines

We are circles
Held in circles
We are circles
Stretching time
